Dont follow the 1st part of WH route!

Route: Beinn Udlaidh and Beinn Bhreac-liath, Glen Orchy

Corbetts: Beinn Bhreac-liath, Beinn Udlaidh

Date walked: 12/11/2020

Time taken: 1 hour

Distance: 6km

Ascent: 300m

I had planned on doing Ben Lui today, but chickened out thinking of the river crossing and the overnight rain, so I headed to Glen Orchy instead.

I parked as per the WH guidance, then through the 1st gate and past the white washed cottage. The very boggy ATV track takes you to a gate (sep. vehicle and pedestrian) in a new deer fence behind the stone wall. From here I ignored the stony track as it looked to head up the glen between the Corbetts and found the 'least' boggy route up the hillside.

After about 30mins of a bogfest I crossed a new stony track, then turned round to see it was the same bloody track from the gate. Which just killed me, I ended up strolling along this heading east just before it dropped to join the A82. Then returned to the car via this nice dry stony track, truly deflated.

I should have just have kept going up, but the weather wasn't great and I wasn't enjoying it by the time I came up to the track.

So in short, follow the boggy track past the white washed cottage, to the gates in the new deer fence. Then stay with this stony track and at the 1st junction turn left and once at the highest part of the ridge turn off to the right for a boggy ascent, from then on as per the WH route info.
