Well with just under 4 days to go before my DofE Diamond Challenge gets under way I thought I had better update my log of walks and training that has been done. The QMHS Diamond Challenge team [https://www.justgiving.com/teams/24Hour3PeaksMunroDiamond] task is to complete the summit of Sgurr Dearg and its Inaccessible Pinnacle during our 2 day adventure in the Cuillins. Once that is done we will travel to Fort William to tackle the national 3 peaks sea level to sea level in less than 24 hours.

To do this we have enlisted the help of Mike Lates's http://skyeguides.co.uk/ and have undertaken extra training in the hills and indoor climbing sessions all to raise money for the DofE trust in its 60th year.

So one of our recent training missions was to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in under 12 hours!

So here we go!

We left the Midlands at 4.00am on the 30th April to rendezvous at the main car park in Horton-in-Ribblesdale for 6.45am.

It was a cool one and snow had fallen in the past 48 hours.

We set off as a team of 4 at precisely 7.00am! We did an anticlockwise route taking in Pen-y-ghent first then Whernside and lastly Ingleborough before descending down back to Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Anyone considering the Y3P, I recommend this route, it worked a treat.

Pen-y-ghent in snow, beautiful...

Descending down the snow field was great fun...

Next on to Whernside

Mike and Emma off to explore the limestone steps

We then walked up past the viaduct and aqueduct. Shortly after we had serious hail storm and awful visability. We pushed on to the ridge and finally the weather passed over and the mountain revealed all its beauty.

We then descended as quickly as possible and headed for Ingleborough. We managed a nice cup of team at the farm shop in Philpin Lane.

We reached the last Summit in good time so it was snack time before our final push for home.

Back at the cafe for a pint of Yorkshire's finest...tea of course!

10 hours and 58 mins. Bring on the Diamond Challenge!
