A misty day
Route: Struie Hill, near Edderton
Date walked: 14/06/2020
Time taken: 1.5 hours
Distance: 6.5km
During the lockdown we’ve explored more of our local area than ever before! I’ve wanted to do struie hill since we moved here a year ago and finally got round to it. Although unfortunately it was a very misty, foggy day and so we didn’t see a whole lot! It was still worth the jaunt.
There is parking near the farm house as indicated on the description. From here it’s a nice easy incline on an path.
The path is mostly straightforward for the majority of the walk and even very beginner hillwalkers like ourselves found it relatively easy going.
There is some very small boggy bits that are easy to overcome by taking a few side steps off the track.
It gets steeper further up and the incline and path gets harsher. We took our time and it was manageable but a little tricky on the way down.
The fog and mist meant we didn’t see a whole lot and it was initially quite disorientating but even then the path is easy enough to follow.
As we came back down the sun started shining (typical!)
Overall, the walk is good for beginners as the path is mostly clear and waymarked. We didn’t come across any livestock either. We’ll be planning another trip up soon when the sun is shining!
