Starting from Inverness
Date walked: 23/06/2011
Time taken: 1.5 days
Distance: 117km
I made an early start in the morning and despite following the markers, I didn't see anyone until coming to the 'green' cafe where there were about 20 walkers in the next 10 minutes coming the other way. After having lunch at the fiddlers cafe in Drumnadrochit I set off for Invermorrison and the decided to press on towards Fort Augustus before pitching up for the night.
Walking up with so much light I got up packed thinking I had slept in, only to find that I was leaving the canal locks at 3 in the morning!, unsurprisingly there was no one else about! The views along the canal were amazing.
The rest of the way was uneventful but due to painful feet, I got to the end in the afternoon.
