East & West Lomond
Date walked: 16/01/2013
Distance: 10km
We woke up on Wednesday to a cold crisp morning in Fife and I did not want to trawl the sales with the Wife, so I suggested we went for a wander in the Lomond Hills. To my surprise half an hour later we were in the car and heading to the Mother-In-Laws to pick up her dog Baillie.
Intending on leaving from the East Lomond car park we made the ascent up the country road, but we could not get any further than half way up, various cars were scattered in every passing point but not had made it all the way to the car park.
Wrapped up warm and dogs in tow we tackled East Lomond first, before heading west towards Limekilns and on towards Craigmead where we stopped to refuel the dogs. The car park was full of people having lunch in their cars or hiding from their bosses, I suspect the latter.
West Lomond was our next target and we were off again, Harris my nine month old Collie has never seen snow like this and he was in his element. When we reached the foot of West Lomond we stopped and shared an egg sandwich. Once we conquered West Lomond it was time to turn around and head back towards the car.
Retracing the same path we eventually made it back to the Car, however my Iphone went into hibernation mode due to the low temperatures which really surprised me I did not think it was that cold to be honest.
Much better day out than trawling the sales, everyone one of us had a great time.
