The Dounie wrecked
Route: The Dounie, Rothes
Date walked: 15/09/2023
Time taken: 1 hour
Distance: 5km
This route is now inaccessible. They have smashed the lovely end part of it to bits. It's a hellish landscape of shredded bark and brush. There's a cutoff route through the golf course but it's not really worth it. So sad. It used to be lovely. I did plough through on the original track as the machinery was working further away and took this one photo from what was the far end of the path. The path used to go round that shaved hillock to the right. They can't resurrect this route in any meaningful sense. It'll take decades to repair itself.
