another summer and another week on skye, this time we were hoping for a wee bit better weather than we had on previous visits, the thing that kept on calling us back was fleeting glimpses of the Cuillins through the cloud and rain and this year didnt disappoint as the weather gods smiled on us ( about time too)

we set of from glen brittle camp site in glorious sunshine and on an easy path,
Image

with the target in view we pressed on, from here it looked like an impossible task for us non climbers but if you dont go for a closer look you never know if you can reach the summit
Image

everything was going well until the youngest in the group spotted some sheep and being from Norfolk there was only one course of action for him, we had to drag him away as we had a hill to climb and didnt want to witness sheep molestation
Image

we had a short break before attempting the scree, the photo isnt that great as it doesnt give an accurate view of just how steep this is. i wasnt looking forward to walking up this stuff :( .... on a lighter note and i didnt get a photo to back this up, a guy passed us carrying a west highland terrier in his back pack, i would have made the little sod walk, what is the point of taking a dog with you if it needs to be carried?
Image

once on the scree it wasnt as bad as i had imagined though i was starting to fall behind the rest of the group at this point, i could take the easy option and put the blame on having MS but if im being honest i fell behind because i eat too much and dont exercise enough
Image

the young un in the great stone chute, i had caught up by this time, maybe the sheep incident had tired him out
Image

at the top of the chute, the sun was still shining and the few white fluffy clouds were not posing any threat
Image

the inn pin from the top of the stone chute
Image

one final push and we would be at the top, i had moved into second position now and was enjoying the wee scramble, somehow i managed to gain the lead ( we weren't actually racing but it was nice to be at the front for a change)
Image

second place man, who is also a member of this forum, three years ago he had a motorbike accident and broke his back and neck, after surgery on his back and some scaffolding to fix his neck,he's still climbimg hills.. nice one CJ
Image

me standing on the highest point on skye( told ya i eat too much :D )
Image

we descended the same route as we came up and i was pleasantly surprised to discover that going down the scree was a lot easier than going up, once off the scree we stopped to apply some sun cream, yes it really was that hot, the oldest in the group who has a bald patch, rubbed some cream onto his head which immediately turned into a grey paste because of the dust we kicked up descending the scree the scree, once again theres no photo evidence of this, but it gave us a good laugh

during this visit to skye we also climbed Am Basteir and blaven, it didn't rain and it wasn't windy, the midgies were out in force though so i suppose that kind of balances things out a wee bit.
