Had a brilliant walk up Beinn Sgritheall in glorious sunshine. The path is fairly easy to follow at first as it follows an old fence line, but higher up the fence disappears, although it isn't difficult to navigate your way to the secondary peak.
The route to the peak is via a ridge from the secondary peak which can be quite windy even on a very good day.
The final climb from the ridge does require a bit of a hands on approach but is not difficult. The views from the peak are wonderful on a clear day. Looking across Loch Hourn you can see Knoydart and Ladhar Bheinn, up the loch you have a wonderful view of Barrisdale bay. You can also see a lot of the Hebridean islands such as Eigg and Rhum, the Cuillins on Skye, the mountains of Kintail and Glen Shiel, and the Nevis range. It makes all the effort worthwhile, just remember to take your camera with you.
There are two options for the descent, either return by the route you came up, or descend down the opposite side of the peak towards a lochan, the path here is visible from the peak. If you decide to come down the way you went up care must be taken when descending to the ridge as this can be very slippery in wet weather. If descending down via the lochan someone has kindly placed a marker cairn to show the path to the left to take you back down to the road. The path down leads you to a deer fence. Once over this the path becomes very indistinct but finding your way down to the road is not difficult. The only problem with this section of path is that it is very damp and muddy in places even after a dry spell and can be quite slippery. It is quite a walk along the road back to the start, but if you're lucky some kind soul may pass you in a car and offer you a lift.
Although this is not one of the bigger Munros, nor very well known, it is well worth the effort just for the views alone.
