Mount Keen is a Munro i always wanted to do but for some reason every year i missed it out so this year i thought this will be the last one i do before i go to Everest Base Camp. I was looking forward to this one as thought it would be not an easy day but a good day to take my time and learn or teach myself to walk slow but as it turned out this turned out to be quite a hard day in the end what with high winds soft snow. We once again left Dundee around 7 getting there for back of 8 we decided to do this from the Glen Esk side.
Parking at car park at Invermark. From there we walked along a well marked path its quite a long walk in but we followed path until we arrived at queens well seemingly Queen Victoria rested here never knew she was a hill walker . Anyway while walking here if you look to your left you will catch a glimpse of Invermark castle as well this castle provided protection from cattle raiders but i have no photos of it as i forgot to take any of the castle . So from the well we continued past Glenmark cottage and followed the track crossing Eastern Burn then Ladder Burn we followed burn for while before we zig zaged up path to well what became quite deep snow and this continued up to the summit we found fork in the path and headed to the right here and well was straight walk up to summit but was hard going the snow was deep in places and for some reason we both struggled first time i felt like this on mountain in Scotland not sure if it was working long shift day before or just the snow took it out of me but in saying this it was still a great day in mountains not many great views but when we arrived back at the car we both decided it was a good winter walk and was great for me as i got a taste of what might of lay ahead for me at EBC. Thanks for taking time to read.
