Beinn Each was only our second Corbett since (re)taking up hillwalking in the last few months. It felt like a really nice introduction to slip back into the past time; there are false summits, steep sections, a bit of mud, good views, places to stop, but all with an easy to follow trail.

From the road parking, there is a standard uphill section through some forestry commission managed woods, a section along the path that takes you to Loch Earn, and then the ascent up Beinn Each rising to your right. I counted maybe three steep ascents where I could test out my new walking poles (spoiler, they were great) with a few flat bits to catch your breath if you are not in as good shape as you used to be. For most of the walk you can turn to see beautiful hills capped by Ben Ledi, and we walked through heather with lots of small stonechats, pipits, hairy caterpillars and butterflies. I am certain the view from the top would have been spectacular, but as Scotland is wont to do, the clouds came rolling in. It made it pretty magical as we say eating our lunch beside a pixie pond, although we beat a hasty retreat as it started to get a little thicker.

The weather, cool and dry, was perfect for this trip. I imagine that under rain, some of the ascents would turn into a bit of a waterfall, but I can't think of anything else to caution against.

Whether you are getting back into climbing or want to mix this ascent with a Monroe in the area, it's a great wee walk.
