West Fife Woodlands Way
Date walked: 27/02/2022
Time taken: 3 hours
Distance: 16km
On this crisp and sunny February Sunday - after a period of horrendous Weather - we opted to walk the West Fife Woodlands Way: https://my.viewranger.com/route/details/MzI2Njk0NA==?ref=
I thoroughly recommend this walk.
We started in the east Culross Car Park, and followed the route at the link above, the path is reasonable and waymarked the whole way.
Most notable is the variety on this walk - each of the various woodland areas the walk goes through has a distinctly different feel, and they are broken up by areas of farmland, offering pleasing views to the Ochills and the Firth of Forth.
There are also various points of interest along the way - including a triangulation point, a walled garden, an old Churchyard and various historic points of interest in Culross, many of which we enjoyed a look at as we walked.
Culross was busy on our return via this circular route - but there are a few cafes operating to grab a bite and a coffee. We had to take-away for lack of space, but there are plenty of benches and spots around the town if the weather cooperates.
All in all, an unexpected gem of a route, and one I'm sure I'll return to.
