1st & 2nd Munros
Route: A' Mharconaich and Geal Chàrn, Drumochter
Munros: A' Mharconaich, Geal-chàrn (Drumochter)
Date walked: 14/07/2012
Time taken: 5.5 hours
Distance: 11.5km
My wife (Margaret) has decided she would like to climb a few munros and see if she likes them after getting the walking, hiking bug from a recent WHW trip. As we spend a lot of time around Blair atholl we decided on these 2 as I had already climbed them.
Checked the MWIS for Saturday and all looked fine.
Set off around 10am raining but not too bad and set off up the heathery boggy slopes of Gael Charn taking about 1hr to get to the top. Oh and our wee dug Wallace decided to come along.......not sure about him deciding.
After a quick bite (I say quick as the wee dug pinched my roll while I took some photos) we set off for the 2nd munro of the day. The going was fairly easy for us but the wee dugs legs found it difficult heading through the rocks, so a wee helping lift down from there for him.
Straight forward climb up to the ridge but a bit of huffin and puffing.
2nd munro of the day reached and Margaret well chuft bagging 2 in 1 day.
The decent from A' Mharconaich was less than pleasurable as it was very boggy at some points sinking up to my knees, took us a while but Margaret loved it, quick dip in the river to clean off boots and clean up Wallace.......knacked and in need of a vodka.
And 1 very puggled wee dug.
