Ben Macdui in the sun.
Route: Ben Macdui and Cairngorm
Munros: Ben Macdui
Date walked: 29/06/2021
Time taken: 6 hours
Had been waiting a while for this one. The perfect conditions for a walk from ski car park across the plateau in unbroken sunshine. My dog Hamish and I took the route that takes you under the Northern Corries and along the path above the Lairig Ghru. Not too much effort took us onto the plateau and past lochan buidhe. The boulderfield next was a bit awkward for Hamish but we were soon past and up the final slopes. View awesome. Especially towards Angels Peak and it’s giant neighbours. Decided to go back via the Cairngorm path but not the peak itself as had bagged it decades ago. Great views into northern corries from above then down Fiacaill a choire chais ridge. Met and had some great conversations with fellow walkers too. Beer in Aviemore completed a smashing day.
