A note on the Hare Hill extension

Route: Scald Law and Carnethy Hill, Flotterstone

Sub 2000s: Scald Law

Date walked: 08/06/2021

Time taken: 5 hours

Distance: 20km

Ascent: 716m

Just a note for those extending the WH route over the Kips (Stage 5) - quite straightforward but when you descend onto the main track, if you want to follow the path indicated on the OS map that lies below Hare Hill above Logan Burn, be aware that it is just an unmarked vehicle track and quite faint at that. It's just before the Red Gate so if you go through the gate and start to descend to Bavelaw you've gone too far. Also it's been very dry this June but 'normally' I would expect this to be rather boggy. It's quite a shortcut compared to descending all the way to Bavelaw/Threipmuir however.
