BlueBerries of Glen Feshie

Munros: Mullach Clach a' Bhlàir, Sgòr Gaoith

Date walked: 25/07/2021

Time taken: 9 hours

Distance: 27km

Ascent: 1000m

The climb through Achlean (or Allt Fhearnagan) woods on the plateau of the hills should be abandoned in favour of spending the day feeding on the blue tussocks of berries along the way. But it is nothing against the Sunday afternoon three quarter of an hour stroll around Loch an Eilein turning into rather heart breaking half a day in more blue than green plantations of blueberries in its forest. Just go, go, go now, they might last yet another two or three weeks !! I have never seen so much of blueberries since my childhood sadly over half a century ago now ….
Otherwise a glorious scorcher day with a skinny dip in Coachan Dubh along the way and finished with a proper evening swim in Loch an Eilein – no anti-social crowds, no midges, no full campsites, just come, pitch the tent and dive in …
