Two Sunsets and Loch Kernsary

Route: Loch Kernsary round, Poolewe

Date walked: 01/06/2017

Time taken: 2 hours

Distance: 10km

Ascent: 195m

Just a quick report to share a few pictures from a couple of fine sunsets and a pleasant walk around Loch Kernsary from Poolewe. The first sunset was on the Sunday evening as I made the short journey to Loch Maree to attempt to capture the classic view across to the mighty Slioch. On the way however I had to stop off at Loch Bad an Sgalaig which was mirror like to give a beautiful reflection of the fine Corbett of Baosbheinn. The local midges where also there in numbers to admire the scene so I didn't linger long.

Following a few false starts I eventually found a suitable lochside location to snap away and enjoy the beautiful evening with a nice gentle breeze to deter the delightful bloodsucking monsters I had earlier fallen victim to.

Tuesday was a largely wet and windy day but cleared nicely on the evening so give some dramatic cloudscapes over Loch Ewe.

Following our exertions on An Teallach the previous day Grace, Nicola wanted to have a wander around the Inverewe Gardens but given the understandable lack of dog access ment that somebody had to stay with Hughie. That person was me, so the mutt and I had a wander around Loch Kernsary on a vaguely wet morning that still had high enough clouds to enable views to distant peaks. The walk out along Loch Kernsary is very nice with plenty of interest as you make your way to the beautiful little settlement of Kernsary. The way back doesn't quite live up to the first half as the walking is largely on tarmac something I'm never keen on. It is a nice way to spend a couple of hours however so if you're ever in Poolewe for a morning and don't fancy the gardens it's a nice way to spend your time.
