- Ideal day out: We just finished the Alta Via Due in northern Italy; I love the combination of high dolomitic limestone plateaus and the steep couloirs and forcella climbing up into them, and the rolling high grassy and flower covered alpine meadows beneath them. Also high off-trail backpacking in the Sierra in California.
