Couldn't make up my mind about where to go so fell back on a long-standing plan to walk to Foal's Craig. My left knee was feeling a bit twingy too so I thought an easy walk might be the thing to do.


Quite a variety of wildlife encounters today.

Ah, something snowy in the distance that I recognise, Lochnagar. There is no escape from Lochnagar. It is also a bit of a surprise to see it. And now I am at the "top".

No big herds of deer but there are some small groups here and there.

I descend via the grassy edge that overlooks the River Avon.

I get to the next steepening of the descent and there is a chaos of deer, grouse and hare taking flight. This deer stops and looks round to check who I am.


I rejoin the track for the last part of the descent.


It is a fair walk back but now I will get to see some of the things I missed in the dark.
