Stac Polliadh
Date walked: 24/04/2014
Time taken: 4 hours
Ascent: 611m
Very keen to try out some on the hill walks and encouraged by the previous posts on this forum, I managed to book some time off work & off I went.
Always a good start - Mcdonald's coffee & porridge at 04.45AM (24042014) Leeds City Railway Station.
Caught the train, then onto Manchester Airport Departures Terminal 3 for the 08.35AM flight to Inverness.
Bit of a delay - 2 hrs, then outbound to Inverness. First flight in a twin prop, nice and comfy and only an hour in the air, then landing at Inverness Airport, very clean and friendly.
Picked up a pre-booked hire car from the airport, super car. clean and all ready to go.
Loaded my Back pack into the boot, filled with my Packraft, paddle and dry suit ready to try out in The Lochs. Sat Nav all set for landing at Ullapool and off I went.
With the weather been so nice, I dashed into Hotel Caledonian in Ullapool, checked in, then drove straight over to the car park opposite SP.
Very beautiful surroundings and off I go. With my new Lidl value walking sticks to try out and I was off.
Carry on going up up up.
Almost there.
Summit reached, Garmin 60csx sat nav shows height.
Great panoramic views from the summit.
I could see the summer Isles and the mighty Suilven (climbed on the rainy & cloudy following Saturday) and also the lochs that I would try my packraft in tomorrow.
Never saw anyone else on the climb up or down and it was so peaceful and quiet at the summit, I was very fortunate.
