Meall an t Seallaidh from Balquhidder, a wee quickie
Corbetts: Meall an t-Seallaidh
Date walked: 07/06/2022
Time taken: 3 hours
Distance: 7.5km
Ascent: 713m
I walked to the top of Meall an t Seallaid in March of this year.
The weather was cold and cloudy, with no views at the top.
Forecast was good for today so I drove up to Balquidder, parked at the old graveyard, had the obligatory look at the grave of Rob Roy and started walking about 8.30.

After a steep but short climb through the trees you arrive at Creag an Tuirc, a grassy knoll atop a crag, the ancient rallying place of Clan MacLaren.
The view along Loch Voil was stunning.
Sat for a little while, it was so peaceful.

Left the viewpoint and followed a rough path for a short distance through the trees before emerging out onto the open hillside.
Steep initial section up to around 500 metres, then it eases off.
Ground was reasonably dry, only a few slightly boggy bits on the upper slopes.
I basically followed the fence all the way up to the summit.
It tends to disappear a bit on the upper slopes, but you can always pick out the old posts in the distance.
Navigation was not a problem in this weather, I had the summit in view for a while.

A small herd of deer crossed in front of me just before the summit.

Slight breeze at the top.
Took some photos then found a nice sheltered spot and had a seat for a good 30 minutes or so, why hurry.

Headed south east along the ridge for a bit before dropping down to Creag Mhullaich.
Found a nice spot to sit and just admired the view for a while.

Cut across the hillside, ferns are knee high already and back into the trees at the bottom corner.
Sat at the view point again for a little break.
I spent as much time sitting as I did walking.
Down to the church again for the drive home.
Cracking little walk, weather was great.
