Lochnagar
Route: Lochnagar circuit, Glen Muick
Munros: Lochnagar
Date walked: 10/10/2010
Time taken: 6 hours
Ascent: 930m
Clare (my daughter) 6th Munro and what a great walking partner she has turned out to be. She shows determination you rarely find nowadays and considering all her previous outings have been spent in cloud, battered by high winds and been given more than her fair share of rain for the year, I'm sure her pals at school would think there is more enjoyment going through the local garage car wash........ without the car.
Early start from Perth and reached the public car park up Glen Muick. Got the gear on and we were on our way by 09:30hrs. Walking towards the Spittal we could see how overcast it was. We went through the pinewood, following the track a further 3km to the col at the head of Glen Gelder.
Once more into the clouds dear Clare!
Come on Clare.... on your feet!
Now I strongly advise you..... stick to your left!
Ah!..... I see why you said that dad.
Now I had told her not to get too triumphant once we reach the cairn, cos the highest point was a little further on. There's no telling the youth of today.
Hold on a minute, the cloud seems to be lifting....
Hey dad, is this what heavens like?
I hope so Clare, I hope so.
Let's push on to the trig point.
Ha! ha! ha! My pals will see the point of all this now.
Oh well I suppose it's back to reality..... down through the clouds.
Down there to the loch and along to the left, we'll be back to the car in an hour and a half.
Well what a day, enjoyment and elation followed by fatigue. So much so Clare didn't have any energy left to place her boots into the car. I wonder if they are still sitting in the car park waiting for our return visit?
Never mind, a small price to pay.
