Munros: Lochnagar

Date walked: 26/04/2011

Time taken: 8 hours

Distance: 19km

I've got a bit of catching up to do with my munro posting, this being my first post of my first munro which i did just about a year ago. What an introduction it was too; amazing setting and the usual 4 season/one day weather (as i have learned ever since). We headed along lock muick first (usual route wrong way round), then a quick stop at the bothy at the back of the hunting lodge.

The walk got quite steep once we left the bothy (mabe why it's usualy done the other way round????) but leveled out a little after getting above the Glas Allt falls.

Soon after we found our first patch of snow, much to the plesure of Skye the dog and Ally

The walk to the sumit was tough, but thoroughly rewarding and after being on the sumit for around ten minutes the first snow began to fall and the layers began to be added. We did'nt hang around long as the weather closed in but had to stop constanty to admire the dark corries on the decent. What a start to this hillwalking lark
