Scorching bimble Beinn Alligin

Route: Beinn Alligin

Munros: Sgùrr Mòr (Beinn Alligin), Tom na Gruagaich (Beinn Alligin)

Date walked: 06/08/2020

Time taken: 4.21 hours

Distance: 11km

Ascent: 1309m

A fantastic morning greeted us after a couple of days of rain. The summits were clear. We opted to start later in the day to avoid the crowds, but parking was tricky and some inconsiderate people taking up the passing places. We sucessfully found an appropriate spot around half a mile from the Car Park.

Enough of a breeze kept the midges at bay during the hard slog to the first summit of Tom na Gruagaich. We were thankful for the recent rains as we were able to refill water from the stream just below the summit for ourselves and our dog. Lovely ridge walk with fantastic views to Sgurr Mor, although the dog was in the rucksack for that section as he's still under 1 year old.

Back on his feet, he negotiated his first scramble to the first of the horns (he's called Tryfan after our fav hill). Loved the horns and again fantastic views and weather. We were glad to do the route clockwise as described, the decent from the horns certainly needs concentration but is straight forward, as are the srcambles.

A fantastic route!
