Re-Conditioning Hike...sort of.

I haven't posted any hikes for a while, simply because they have been repeats, but no less enjoyable or successful. I measure their success by more muscular thighs and calves equaling about 5 plus pounds of muscle mass. Additionally my heart and wind recovery time has dropped dramatically.
Something new has popped up though. My feet, right foot imparticular has shown signs of Plantar fasciitis (PLAN-tur fas-e-I-tis). I am in the footwear industry and often run into it with my customers. For those of you that don't know, it is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It involves pain and inflammation of a thick band of tissue, called the plantar fascia, that runs across the bottom of your foot and connects your heel bone to your toes. I am feeling it in my right heal. Just what I need before my Scottish National Trail backpack.
This leads me to today’s short "hike". I picked up a pair of well know brand name Massaging Gel insoles, designed for all day shock absorption. I cut them to fit my 91/2 hiking shoes and went for a power hike at Skylands State Park, NJ, two blocks from my home. My heal was sore when I started. No pain after a 1/4 mile of a good asphalt pounding. And still felt good after almost an hour of the same. I've been back for 45 min. and still good. I guess they are keepers. Sorry no pics.
Stats for hike.
