Ben Wyvis
Route: Ben Wyvis, near Garve
Munros: Ben Wyvis
Date walked: 21/05/2016
Time taken: 5.5 hours
Ascent: 1046m
Almost didn't head up the hill today because of thunder and pouring rain in Dingwall on the way out. Went home and got changed, looked out the window across to the top and it seemed fine so we headed out again. The cloud didn't hit us until we were almost at the first summit and once on top, it was blowing a hooley and had started trying to rain. Still a bit of snow on top which we obviously had fun with!
This was my first Munro which I actually completed with my boyfriend who had already tackled Ben Wyvis. I would say that the hardest parts of this walk are just before and after the stone steps . Once you get to the stone steps you climb higher faster and it's much easier, although quite slippy when wet. Certain parts higher up are more of a scramble for shorter people like me but not too hard a climb!
