Beinn Dorain Inversion

Route: Beinn Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh, Bridge of Orchy

Munros: Beinn an Dothaidh, Beinn Dorain

Date walked: 11/03/2018

Time taken: 7 hours

I had climbed Beinn Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh many moons ago, but my mate had never been to these two. We left Dumbarton at 8am and drove north, it was a bit cloudy and grey and we hoping the weather would improve and maybe give us some views from the top. Left the car park at Bridge of Orchy about 9.30am and by the time we hit the snowline and ascended into Coire an Dothaidh it was still murky and grey, it was'nt until we reached the bealach and started heading up Beinn Dorain that we started to emerge from the cloud and not long after we realised we were in for a treat. We took our time and enjoyed a stunning inversion all the way to the summit. It was windless and very sunny and I ended up with a very red face later, should have brought sunscreen ! We decided just to climb Beinn Dorain and just take our time and soak in the experience rather than rush to take in Beinn an Dothaidh aswell. Stayed at the summit for ages, and stopped on the way back for a while aswell. A superb day and a magical experience. Thanks to the guy who gave us a wee dram of whisky at the summit ! Big grins all round, it was one of those days. Here's some photos from the day.
