Conic hill

Route: Conic Hill, Balmaha

Sub 2000s: Conic Hill

Date walked: 14/03/2016

Time taken: 2 hours

Distance: 5.6km

After having the s*** scared out of me attempting Ben Vane the other week I decided to tackle something a fair bit easier whilst we had the lovely weather!
Grabbed the other half and my walking buddy and her other half and we headed to Conic Hill!

Sat Nav decided to take us an awkward route (heading from outside Glasgow) but I wasn't complaining because the views from the back roads at Milngavie are brilliant!
Boots on, sunglasses on (it was a scorcher) and some snacks packed we started up the hill!
Walking with people who are a foot taller than me meant that it was almost a sprint to the top haha! Those steps seem never ending and I was starting to feel the burn as I had took part in 10k road race just the previous day!

Lots of people out walking as well which was lovely to see - people all ages and abilities so definitely a good hill to try for complete novices!
Such a great view at the top! I had read online about how the hill sits on the highland boundary fault and it is clear to see when overlooking the loch from conic hill!

Even though we had Lots of stops for photos & to soak in the views and even a pit stop to have a snack we managed to get up and down the hill in 1hr 42min!

We decided to take a different route down just to mix things up so we descended overlooking the loch and the islands! A little tricky on some muddy parts coming down but in comparison to my last walk it was a canter!
Seeing as we had so much time left of our day we stopped in Drymen for a wee ice cream and to catch some more sun!
Another one ticked off and excited to walk another as soon as I have spare time!
