A lovely walk.... but...
Route: Flowerdale Glen, Gairloch
Date walked: 19/03/2015
Time taken: 2 hours
Distance: 7km
... Our party of 2 adults and a border collie thoroughly enjoyed this stroll. Even on a grey March day the views were pleasant throughout.
However, there has clearly been very little effort to maintain the 'blue marker posts' described in section 5. In fact it can only be assumed that the estate has removed such markers because they are using the area for pheasant husbandry and ramblers/dogs/children would only disturb this practice.
The walk was completed almost as indicated on the map but, as the the final descent is criss crossed with gamekeepers' quad bike tracks, the exact route was impossible to find. Bearing in mind that in March the vegetation level was low - once the area becomes overgrown I think it will be very difficult to manage the walk as described.
Editor's note: The Walkhighlands route description has been updated to remove this section of the walk.
