The 'red dot' (so called because of red dots on rocks along the way) route from Pen y Pass up to Glyder Fawr can be tricky to find so I've included a GPX file that users might find useful. The GPX is a record of the actual route and not a guesstimate of it.
On the down side this route is
1 not the most exhilarating underfoot
2 has a boggy section near the start
3 requires a second mortgage for the parking fee
on the plus side
1 has a starting point of 359m elevation
2 manageable under winter conditions
3 is quick
4 has spectacular views of the Snowdon massif

Get to Pen y Pass before 7am to get parking!

I picked a nice day weather wise to do this route (that I've done many times before) and take some pics, After crossing the road, pass the hostel on your right, take the path climbing through the rocky outcrops then cross the boggy section to the start of the ridge. Now, you may find a drier way across the bog than given in my GPX route.... but you'll need to find the grassy gully that takes you up onto the ridge to save yourself energy and frustration. Anyways... once on to the ridge the going is not too steep and good underfoot. Take time to turn around and enjoy the view back to Snowdon. I think I'll let the pics do the talking...
