Dumyat
Route: Dumyat by the hill path
Sub 2000s: Dumyat
Date walked: 29/07/2022
Time taken: 2.5 hours
Distance: 7km
I started at the lower Pendreich Forest car park, here's how Dumyat looks from there. There is actually another car park higher up, where you leave the road to go through the fence.
The path is a well-maintained rocky path throughout, but occasionally splitting into parallel eroded pathways.
As you go up, views start to open up on all sides, well worth stopping for a bit and taking photos. Stirling looking great:
As do the Trossachs at the back:
Crossing a dip in stage 3.
The top has a trigpoint and a beacon full of firewood - does anyone know why? Do they ever lit it? Perhaps for some holiday or other occasion? And River Forth showing off its meanders in the distance, while being crossed by the Kincardine bridge.
Menstrie in the valley and the Ochils looking very impressive, with Lomond Hills on the horizon.
The bench on this photo is a monument to a local university professor of mathematics who liked to ramble around Dumyat and think about his research. Probably sat here a lot, enjoying Trossachs in the background. If I got this correctly, the high munro on the left is Ben Lomond, followed by Ben Venue, Ben Ledi and Ben Vorlich, with other smaller hills in-between and in the back.
Path down was the same as up and I ended the walk after 2.5hrs (1.25 hr up, 1 hr down and the rest hanging around on top and taking photos on the way) in a now very full car park.
