I had read a lot of negative views on this hill, so I decided to make it the first of the season and climb it after 2 days of 15 degree sun and after a dryish cold spell. Worked a treat!

The only difficulty was, the doctor called and offered me the second Covid vaccine at 9am that morning. I was loathe to postpone my first walk in over 6 months, so after a bit of internet research and asking / begging the doctor I decided to go for it.

By the time I got there at 10.30am Loch Lomond was the busiest I've ever seen it. Didn't realise the Drovers car park was shut (they missed a trick there), but I spoke to the nice lady at Beinglas Campsite on the phone and she let me park in there for £2 (although in the end they didn't take any money off me).

Thanks to previous posters for mentioning that you're looking for the path up the left hand side of the burn! The path is loose, but was fine on the way up. I could have done without the slippy scree-fest on the way back with bad knees though.

I approached the bogs with a bit of trepidation, but couldn't believe my luck. Pretty much bone dry all the way. Only had to make a jump for it about twice. It was actually really nice going on the feet. The track comes and goes, but if in doubt you could follow the burn up to the Lochan.

I found the climb from the wee Lochan a bit tough, but hey, I was nearly there wasn't I? Apparently not, as someone kindly pointed out there was about another hour to go

Enjoyed the waterfalls, as did the youngsters smoking a doobie. Maybe it was pain relief.....



Met some nice people, including two guys I leapfrogged on the way up, but they disappeared at the summit. I'm presuming they were tucked away on the other side of the summit rather than climbing more hills. Also a couple of guys from Greenock with a Westie that I never got the chance to say cheerio to. Cheers guys.

All in all a great wee hill with lovely scenery. It just needs an open mind........and the right weather!
