A Great Day in Glencoe - Buachaille Etive Beag

I have been wanting to go hillwalking in Glencoe ever since I started and finally made it up last weekend. And what a cracking day we were rewarded with for walking. Left home in the Borders at 6.30am with Chris and Crust & after stopping for a quick shot of the Big Bookil we arrived at the starting car park at 10am.

The hill of choice which was the Wee Bookil! I fancied this hill as a good introduction to the Glencoe area, Chris & Crust had done the AE ridge last year so they were happy to go wherever.

The walk itself was very enjoyable with on a great sunny Autumn day! The views were amazing and looking at the surrounding hills and taking lots of photos made the ascent to the bealach hardly noticable! It is fairly steep but nothing to taxing!

We decided to head left to Stob Coire Raineach first and made the summit in around an hour an a half. After a bite to eat soaking in the views we then headed back to the bealach and up onto the ridge that takes you to Stob Dubh. I really enjoyed the walk over this ridge, the views again were awesome, we are so lucky to have such beautiful country to go out walking in.

We took alot more photos at the top befor starting to head back down. Throughout the day I had managed to capture some great photos of the Big Bookil, Bidean Nam Bian, The AE ridge, Glen Etive etc but the very top of Big Ben remained in the clouds unwilling to reveal itself!!!

This was to change though as on the way down the cloud cleared and finally i got my first glimpse of the summit of our highest mountain! This was a great way to top of an amazing walk in an amazing area! I cant wait to return to Glencoe and tackle the surrounding hills, here's hoping for some more weather like this.

On the way home we stopped at the Kingshouse Hotel for a bowl of soup and a well earned pint :D

All in All a Great Day !!!!
