Kinpurney Hill & Tower

Route: Kinpurney Hill and Monument, Newtyle

Date walked: 10/10/2015

Time taken: 2.5 hours

Distance: 6.2km

Ascent: 255m

We are trying to get our fitness level up a bit before we tackle anything steep so we decided on a short walk up to Kinpurney Tower late in the afternoon.
We parked at the car park in Newtyle and set off along the road to Denend Farm and the Start of the walk uphill. The path to the hill was signposted and easy to find.

It's This Way

It was a nice walk up through the Den with lots of little waterfalls to look at and there was a nice wee bench about halfway through. This meant we spent more time in the den than planned but not to worry we had plenty time on our hands. The path through here was a bit muddy at times but nothing too much.

Braw Wee Waterfall

We soon reached the end of the wooded area and set off through the gate and up the slope. The walk uphill took longer than i thought it would. But this was mostly due to a few stops to take in the views around us. There was nothing too steep or strenuous about the walk up the grassy slope.

Jenni Heading Up

Once at the top we went past the couple of trees up to the trig point first for that must have photo then over to the Tower for a good nosey around. And take in the views around from the top, It wasn’t the clearest day and was starting to get dark but still you could see far enough that it was worth it.

Time to Head Back Down

It was now time to head back down, and as it was starting to darken we decided not get down and through the Den pretty quick. Before walking back along the road to Newtyle picking up Conkers from the side of the road as we went.
All in all a couple hours well spent.
