Camp on See Morris Hill

Sub 2000s: See Morris Hill

Date walked: 18/04/2023

Decided to start exploring the wee hills around D&G, moved here a few years ago and have just stuck to the bigger hills and going to highlands and Lakes.
Plus not being a drive always makes even little hills an adventure.
Thought this would make a good start, a local bus from Dumfries to Shawhead dropped me exactly at turn off to Riddinghill. From there a tarmac track climbs pleasantly up the hill, about 20 mins from the road.
Big mast at the top but if you get to the trig and keep that to your back, there are fine views west and then can look back down on Dumfries, and my return destination in the morning.
Decided to camp and enjoy the stars on a beautiful spring evening, and make the most before the midge arrive.
A nice spot this hill, and a good resource for a wee evening stroll if living nearby, and useful bus for non-drivers.
