Foinaven-bike approach

Great walk despite the cloud rising unseen on the seaward aspect of the mountain to meet me as i got to the top of Ceann Garbh.
I had read in a magazine that the land rover track into Srath Dionard was very good for biking and i would agree. Very easy going on a full suspension MTB and the surface did not vary over the 6km approach.
I had expected there to be no obvious path and planned to head diagonally to bottom of Ceann Garbh but as there was a path all the way to the lochan in Coire Duail i decided to follow it.
Then some easy scrambling on the reddish rock up to the Bealach nan Carn.
I had intended walking round to the start of ACG and then descending north east to get back to Alt Coire Dhail but as i met the cloud on the ridge and it showed no sign of thinning when i got to Ganu Mor , i decided to retrace my steps to the low point and descend the scree down to the upper lochan, Glas Choire Granda. I was not looking forward to this but the scree was so loose that it was actually fun scree surfing in big slides. Would hate to ascend this scree though.
The cloud was very impressive as it cascaded over the ridge and followed behind me as i descended.
I think the odd light under the cloud highlighted all the unusual rock formations with lots of intrusions in the floor of the coire and the walls also.
So although i missed out on the views along the ridge , i had such great views early on of the complex side ridges that i did not feel disappointed. But of course when i got back to the car , most of the cloud had dispersed.
i was really glad of my ebike as the last 1.2km back to the road gained 100metres height into a stiff wind which would have slightly spoiled a great day out whether on bike or foot.
Then on the drive home along the A838 , the dappled flanks of Arkle looked fantastic side on in the sun.
