Been ages since my last walk report, last October in fact, the thing is i have not been out walking due to the poor weather this year and mine and Timbers shift patterns have not worked the way we would have liked when we did have the occasional decent weather. And with Timber just recently becoming a father he has had plent to keep him busy. So with both of us having some free time this weekend and with a favourable weather report we decided to head for Lochnagar which we had been wanting to do for ages. Left Edinburgh at 3.30am and arrived at the car park at just after 6.30am, time to get the frying pan and stove out and make a couple of sliced sausage rolls before setting off, tasted lovely but i must remember the next time not to leave the plastic spork in the frying pan while i turned my back, melted red plastic and sliced sausage aint good, luckily i managed to peel the plastic off after it cooled down and saved our breakfast. So we got the boots and packs on and headed for the track, by now it was about 7.20am and getting very warm but it was good to be moving and leaving the dreaded midges behind, although this was my first big walk for ages i did not feel to bad when we got up onto Lochnagar where we doddled about for a wee while before heading over to Bhoidheach where we stopped for lunch then we back tracked down to the start of Glas Allt and the long walk back to the car, wish i had taken my towel as there were a few nice deep pools that were very tempting in the hot weather. But it was a really good day out and although i got a bit burnt and the legs were feeling it the day after i'm glad we done it. So with a weeks break coming up for myself i have booked a cottage up at Dulnain Bridge the middle of next month so i am looking forward to getting a bit more walking done, here's hoping for an Indian summer.
