Lochcraighead and White Coomb from th grey mares tail
Route: White Coomb by the Grey Mare's Tail
Corbetts: White Coomb
Donalds: Lochcraig Head , White Coomb
Date walked: 01/12/2020
Time taken: 4.5 hours
Distance: 13km
The route description will keep you right. We walked this in December so the boggy areas were quite kind. I would not try this route in the summer. Loch Skeen is fantastic but after you reach it, the work begins! The next hill is brutal and boggy to the plateau of Lochcraig Head. You must then detour North to reach the summit.
From then on it is fairly
easy going round to the summit of White Coomb.
The descent is very steep in parts, requiring concentration.
It is possible to cross the burn without getting wet if you've got your best boots on.
All in all, A brilliant day out
