What trip would you choose?
Date walked: 18/05/2016
Hi All,
2 of us are planning our next hiking jaunt and have put 3 possible itineraries together. Any suggestions on the most attractive/enjoyable route would be appreciated.
Arran Coastal Walk Inc. Goatfell
Wed 31st Aug 0700 Ferry from Ardrossan to Brodick arriving 0755.
Walk to Lochranza - 17 miles
Stay at Lochranza Youth Hostel
Thurs 1st Sept
Walk to Blackwaterfoot 18 miles
Stay at Best Western Kinloch Hotel
Fri 2nd Sept
Walk to Whiting Bay 17.5 miles
Stay at Burlington Guest House
Sat 3rd Sept
Walk to Brodick 12 miles
Either stay over in Brodick or head back over to Glasgow (accommodation is limited due to 2 night minimum stays)
4 reasonable walking days and it takes us over Goat Fell - it could be cut down to 3 but I'd rather enjoy this trip if possible.
Cairngorms
Wed 31st Aug
Leave Glasgow circa 5AM
Arrive Schiehallion circa 7AM
Drive to Aviemore afterwards where we'll stay for 3 nights at the High Range Motel
Thurs 1st Sept - Ben Macdui
Fri 2nd Sept - Cairn Gorm
Sat 3rd Sept - could either have a proper night out/distillery tour on the Friday or do another peak on the way back to Glasgow
Isle of Skye
Wed 31st Aug Leave Glasgow circa 5AM
Arrive Old Man of Storr circa10.30AM
I’m suggesting we be adventurous and camp at the Sligachan Hotel for the duration. Looks like a great spot with the Cullins on the doorstep
Thurs 1st Sept – Sgnurr na Stri
Fri 2nd Sept - Bruachnafrithe
Sat 3rd Sept – could do another Cullin (suggestions welcome) or head back as it’s a bit of a drive.
