Cleveland Way

Date walked: 28/11/2015

Decided to do part of a long distance walk, as i didnt fancy any fell walking with all the rain and high winds predicted( plus im not keen on bog).......
day 1
So my and my partner took to the cleveland way, we drove down to Whitby and then got bus to Robin hood's bay.
From here we took a wander into the bay, then left and went onto the walk.
We left the village and followed the signs along a track where views of the bay was limited by hedgerow.
When looking into this walk, the underlying comments were that the path was muddy when wet!!! this was a wet walk and the path was muddy nearly all the way.
The route was well signposted and was not overly difficult to follow, the caravan park near whitby was the only iffy part, but you just walk through on the main road and then at the end theres a path that goes around the water tanks and heads into whitby via then abbey. The view i was looking forward to, seeing the abbey on the skyline the cloud covered it all up gutted :( .

This would have been a great day but the wind was exceptionaly strong as predicted and the path here does get very close to the cliff edge, so can be a bit nerve racking at times when gusting strongly on narrow paths!!!

day 2

Today we took the bus up to Staithes today returning back to Whitby.

Pretty much the same as yesterday the winds remained constantly high. The rain was intermittent, we even had the sun shining on rare intervals too......
The walk was like yesterday clearly defined by pencil posts and acorn engraved post's along the way...
again the edges were sometimes precarious, and evidence of landslides visible too. this day was also v.muddy too.
the path wound its way past Port Mulgrave, Runswick Bay, Kettleness & Sandsend where we stopped in the Beach cafe for a cuppa!!!! then along the beach front to Whitby..

Finished the day off with a traditional must have Fish n Chips for tea...
pretty good wkend of walking,
