Additional information for this walk

Route: Isle of Luing and the Slate Quarries

Date walked: 28/09/2018

Time taken: 4 hours

Distance: 7km

A few points of note.
1) In Stage 3 it states "...On the far side, head diagonally back to the coastline."... at this point it is best to follow the track for a few 100 yards then head diagonally back to the coastline.
2) Again in Stage 3 it states "...soon an area is reached where the old quarry route around the coast has collapsed into the sea. Care is needed here to descend the broken rocks and cross the boulders before climbing back up to the grassy track beneath the cliff."...at this point it needs to be mentioned that these rocks and boulders require sure footedness as they can and do become slippery plus due to erosion this area may be impassable at high tide or due to a rough sea.
3) In Stage 4 it states "...Turn right by the telephone box to follow the road out of the village,..." as an alternative, carry straight on at the telephone box for 200 yards to visit the Atlantic Islands Centre. It has a cafe/restaurant, a museum, a small shop and toilets. On leaving the centre, turn left to a metal gate, then turn right here and follow a grass track to the road, turn left onto the road and follow it out of the village.
