Another chance to introduce a friend to the wonderful world of walking arose on Sunday, with both our wifes entangled in baby talk Gordon and myself were in the motor for 0800hrs and heading to Lynwilg near Aviemore for this shortish corbett. The weather never promised to do anything other than rain so we didn't fancy making a day of it, plus Gordon had a lack of gear shall we say.
Parked the car and we got our bearings before heading off up the tar mack road.

Over a couple of fences en route and the climb although good under foot was getting pretty steep and involving a bit of work as we weren't hanging around.

Coming up around An Gleannan the clag was surrounding us like being in a 1970's boozer and Gordons descision to wear jeans kept on cropping up as a bad one. But a learning experience!


Where the path continues to run north west there are a couple of cairns and a stone monument in memory of an Alistair Polson head gamekeeper which is a nice touch.

This is was the place for us to take a bearing west at the junction, although there is a reasonably distinct path to the summit.


We were at the summit in an hour and a half and Gordon explained he had that feeling a achievement we all get once a hill is accomplished.
Given the handicap of wet cowboy boots he did really well.

So after a quick couple of texts to our nearest and dearest from the top we headed off back to the track junction and followed the track south east down the hill. After half an hour and out of the clag we got good views across Loch Alvie.

Always on the look out for interesting items we came across this novelty deer and a morris minor on the track back to the car.


I was sure I saw these involved in a heist on crimewatch last month, whats the number again?
So back to the car on the three hour mark, good going.

This walk served as an excellent introductory walk. Gordon loved it and today he's looking at making a few purchases clothing wise for next time, another recruit!
