Return to Assynt

After seeing and hearing about my earlier visits to the far north, my daughter said she definitely wanted to make an appearance as soon as possible and that time came at the end of August.
Rach had stated that Suilven was a must but due to a complete lack of hill walking (or any other walking for that matter) during this strange year we've had, I thought 20km might be a bit much straight off, so I suggested this particular walk first as I knew the views wouldn't disappoint (weather permitting) and last time I had made the decision to shorten the walk due to the direction of high winds meant I'd be blown back from the edge of the Fiddler, but the ridge on BMC could be risky. This time I was eager to do both and with just a light breeze and reasonable weather forecast I couldn't wait for Rachel to experience the area.

We sat and ate some lunch whilst soaking in the stunning views, chatting about what a cracking day we were having, and especially the perfect weather that we'd been gifted. After a while we continued down to the bealach, then up to reach the dramatic summit of Sgurr an Fhidhleir where the cliffs plunge down almost vertically over 1400 feet.

wishing I could stay forever

We originally intended to carry on to the next top but even on this relatively short bimble we were feeling it due to the fact that ( aside from 1 walk in Wales ) the farthest I'd walked all year was from the back door to the car
Besides, we were MORE than happy with our day, so were content with taking the gentle slopes straight down 'The Fiddler' back to the car and with the summer isles and blue skies to feast our eyes on, who wouldn't be?
