Set off from home about 5.30am to tackle these 3 Munros on what was forecasted as a beauiful day for a walk. The drive up was good with little traffic on the road and I arrived at Blair Atholl at 8.00am, took the road to Old Bridge of Tilt and then the right hand fork to Monzie, which soon had me at the parking spot at Loch Moraig not much of a Loch I thought covered in reeds.

My first view of Carn Liath looked great in the morning sunshine.

Set off about 8.30am along the road then went through the gate to Shanagan or Shenanigan, something like that, you do not see the Loch till you have started your walk, That's more like it.

Walking along the track I disturbed 3 Roe deer, they are quick little ******* could not get the camera out in time

I turned off the track at the little hut and started the first climb, I found it quite a deceiving mountain steeper than I thought, but once I got my pace sorted I started to make progress. About halfway up I said to myself that's a cold breeze so out came the fleece and bye the time I got to the top of Carn Liath the coat hat and gloves were on

I did not waste much time and started towards the second munro Braigh Coire Chruinn-Bhalgain

The twisting path up the mountain can be clearly seen and there is quite a bit of height loss between them but the steady plod got me there. Arriving at the top it was not long till I met up with a fellow walker Paul from Montrose and we both dropped down from the top and had a cup of tea and a good chin wag we spent the rest of the walk together. An interesting guy who has compleated the Munros and Corbetts.

The Cairngorms could be clearly seen in the distance with a covering of snow on Ben MacDui and Cairngorm. Once we dropped off BCCB we got a bit of shelter from the cold breeze and it was time to strip layers off. The climb up to Carn Nan Gabhar was over before I realised as we had been gabbing the whole way up, we made our way past the first cairn and trig point to the summit were we got settled out of the breeze behind the cairn and had a bit to eat while paul pointed out all the munros to me that could be seen with tales of his triumphs and disasters. If you read this, thanks Paul for your company and your knowledge.

We made our way back along the ridge and descended down Airgiod Bheinn listening to the stags trying to out bellow each other and spotting all the different herds, down at the bottom we jumped the burn and made our way round the side of Beinn Bheag on the path. I had just a great day and Ben a' Ghlo was glowing in the sunshine.
