Wet and windy visit to Beinn Fhada!

Route: Beinn Fhada, from Morvich

Munros: Beinn Fhada

Date walked: 16/09/2018

Time taken: 6.5 hours

Distance: 16km

Arrived early with a great deal of apprehension, got kitted up and set off with fingers crossed for the forecast improvement in the weather later in the morning.

On to the path and the rain was holding off, very wet underfoot.

Heading up Strath Croe, lots of regeneration going on!

Out of the trees, heading up towards the Bealach na Sgairne, distant view of the Stalkers path winding its way up the hill.

Steady progress being made up Gleann Choinneachain!

Arrived at the Allt a Choire Chaoil and it was raging, lots of water pouring down from the hill, it was clear that getting wet was a requirement if we were going to continue.

Water, water everywhere, quite a spectacle!

After removing boots and socks and wading across, thankfully it was not melt water, time for a quick break before hitting the hill proper. On to the Stalkers path height was gained quickly, still very wet underfoot.
The wind was picking up now and some heavy showers passing through. Into the second of the two corries got a view of the ridge up to the summit that we were heading for.

Looking up to the last climb on to the ridge.

On the ridge the wind was really blowing now, visibility coming and going and feet pretty soggy now it was time for the last pull up to the summit, really glad when the Trig point could be seen not too far away.
Did not spend to much time on the top, glad of a little bit of shelter at the top for a quick change and bite to eat. Headed back down looking forward to getting back to the car for a hot cup of coffee.
Was good to get down out of the wind and the Sun even made an appearance as we headed back to the car.
