Driving up from London on the Friday was a nightmare with traffic after every junction. I eventually arrived at Dalrigh around 9pm, getting eaten by Midges I hurriedly got ready and set off towards Cononish where my partner in crime has set up camp.

Food down our throats it was off to sleep, it's been at least 5 years since I had slept in a tent so that was an experience.


Woke with Sunrise, left the tents behind and set off towards Ben Lui, growing more Alpine the closer we got. As we started gaining height we decided that we would head to the right of central gully and pick up the ridge. What an experience this was. After dodging many rocks coming down at me from above we got to the ridge, and looked back at what we had just come up. Both agreed that if we took the ridge the whole way we wouldn't even consider coming up the gully.


Onward to the summit of Lui, what a magnificent, imposing mountain. One of the most memorable. The same could not be said for number 2: Beinn a'Cheibh.


Descending from Lui, this mountain did not even look as though it could be a Munro, we both stumbled across the summit cairn and didn't hang around. So back towards Lui for number 3 of the day.

It took longer than expected to traverse the slopes of Lui towards Ben Oss. Eventually we found a nice slab of rock for lunch next to a Lochan before the ascent of Oss. This was a slog with the 'after lunch' legs and took a while to get going.

Eventually on top of Oss, you get magnificent views of Lui. We started on our way to Beinn Dubhchraig. This took longer than expected. We dumped the rucksacks at the start of the path we would use for descent. Again quite a nothing mountain. As we returned and grabbed the rucksacks we plotted our descent down some fairly steep ground to the bridge at the farm. When we reached the tents we both decided to go and sit in the river to cool off. What a good idea.

Packed up the tents and headed toward the Tyndrum Inn for some good food.
