Carn Ban is the highest point of the rolling hills on the Alladale Estate and one of the most remote Corbetts in Scotland. Altough the upper slopes are wide and grassy mountain is given stature by three magnificent corries and is a superb viewpoint. It is possible to ascend from Alladale to the east, Black Bridge to the south or Corriemulzie to the north.

An alternative start point is at Black Bridge on the A835, heading up Strath Vaich. This route is of similar length but lacks the beauty of the walk up Gleann Mor from Alladale given above. The two routes join near Deanich Lodge.
Another possibility is to approach up Strath Mulzie to Loch a' Choire Mhoir.
