Càrn Liath was renamed Creag an Dail Bheag when its western summit was found to be higher than its eastern one. It is a rather sprawling hill with the two summits of very similar height, and offers interesting views of Ben Avon and Beinn a'Bhuird, and is usually climbed in combination with Culardoch.

Other routes and challenges

The route above makes use of the track over the bealach east of Càrn Liath to make the easiest ascent; however, old stalkers paths also head towards the hill east of the Glas Allt Beag. An epic approach would be up Glen Gairn past Corndavon Lodge.
