Within easy reach of the cities of the central belt and with an isolated position away from the other Border's hills, Tinto is an extremely popular and straightforward hill. The usual route is from a car park near Thankerton but there is also a more challenging route from the south. The summit has a huge bronze age cairn and commands superb views.
