An Sgarsoch

Hear pronunciation Press to hear pronunciation

An Sgarsoch is rounded and unspectacular, but it must rank amongst the remotest in Scotland, lying as it does in the very lonely country linking the Mounth to the Cairngorms. It requires a very long approachs from any direction.

Detailed route description and map

An Scarsoch and Carn an Fhidhleir from the Linn of Dee

Other routes and challenges

One alternative approach is up Glen Feshie. After the very long but beautiful walk up the glen, cross the Eidart footbridge before tackling the boggy lower slopes of Carn Ealar and continuing to An Sgarsoch.

The other possibility is a start up Glen Tilt from Blair Atholl. Though even longer, there is the possibility of making use of the Tarf bothy, though crossing the river Tarf afterwards can be impossible in spate.
