Ben Challum

Hear pronunciation Press to hear pronunciation

Ben Challum is usually climbed from Strath Fillan and is an undistinguished trudge from this direction until the final ridge, though the views are fine. It reserves its best outline for its remoter side above the head of Glen Lochay, from where it appears as a conical peak.

Detailed route description and map

Ben Challum from Kirkton Farm

Other routes and challenges

The route given above is much the shortest. Ben Challum could be combined with the Corbett Cam Chreag via the Beallach Ghlas Leathad, though the slopes north of the bealach particularly are steep.

The bealach could also be reached via a very long approach up Glen Lochay to the east - using the hydro track. Ben Challum is in view throughout on this approach.
